Above the altar is a statue of the Sacred Heart, which is worked into a carved panel portraying the Last Supper. The text is taken from John 6:59) and is translated "This is the Bread come from Heaven." Click on this photo for large view (a great "wallpaper" image).

The tabernacle is reminiscent of the Ark of the Covenant with angels spreading their wings on either side.
