Pastoral Council
Vision statement
The Pastoral Council exists to encourage and enable the people of God to participate in the mission of the Cathedral Parish and the Catholic Church according to their gifts. The Council will contribute to the building up of our community under the spiritual and administrative care of the Rector and through works of evangelization, education, liturgy, service and stewardship.
Mission statement
The Pastoral Council advises and assists the Rector in planning, developing and implementing pastoral programs and services. Its purpose is to unite the clergy, religious and laity in order to achieve the vision of the parish.

Who We Are
- Members of the Pastoral Council were invited by the Rector.
- Selections made were designed to reflect diverse experiences within the parish community.
- We intend to be welcoming, engaging, and serving.
What We Have Done
(Download this as a PDF file)
- Assessed where we are as a parish.
- Developed a Shared Vision and Mission.
- Agreed upon the 5 Core Ministries of the parish: Worship, Evangelization, Education, Stewardship, and Service.
- Developed functioning committees around core ministries.
- Held meetings for the leaders of each existing ministry.
- On March 28th, we held a Ministry Parish Planning Session (All Invited).
- Develop Functioning Committees Around Core Ministries.
- Expanded the discussion to the entire parish.
Why We Have Done It
- Commitment to Faith
- Love of the Parish
- Sense of Potential
What Are We Going To Do?
- Collectively agree on where we are.
- Develop a shared concept of what we want to be throughout the parish.
- Identify concrete steps to move smartly in that direction.
- Identify ways to develop a parish-wide, active discussion around the 5 Core Ministries to create synergy and effectiveness so that the Cathedral Parish can better serve each other and the broader community.
Our Parish Today
- Led by the Rector
- Active staff
- More than 60 varied ministries of various sizes, each contributing to the life of our parish. Often efforts are neither coordinated within the context of the entire parish, nor viewed through the screen of ministry. Efforts are often spearheaded by staff, not parishioners.
Our Parish in the Future
- Still led by the Rector and the associate priests.
- Organized around the Core Ministries of Education, Evangelization, Worship, Service, and Stewardship.
- Greater level of parishioner engagement.
- Welcoming, growing, and celebratory.
- Without "silos".
