Service Outreach Ministry – Strategic Plan Summary
Rev. November 8, 2011
“Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they shall be fulfilled.”
(Matthew 5:3-10)
OUR MISSION
Inspired by the above beatitude, our mission is to serve as a parish centered entity that encourages and facilitates a gateway for Cathedral parishioners to provide service outreach to external communities in need. Through worship, education, resource sharing, direct service and advocacy, we achieve our mission by offering the following:
- Service Education meetings on specific local, national or international needs of poor and vulnerable communities that emphasize the importance of Church social teachings and service as an essential part of what makes a parish Catholic.
- Support to encourage, celebrate and expand current parish Service Outreach programs, including outreach services provided by the Cathedral School.
- Creation of new parish Service Outreach programs to, most probably, function in collaboration with current Catholic faith based and independent community service groups.
OUR VISION
- To serve as a facilitator to maximize the number of parishioners who contribute their time, talent or treasure to serve external communities in need of “helping hands” to address hunger, health, poverty and other issues.
