Children's Liturgies E-mail Meghan Cosgrove if you would like to participate

This committee
provides liturgical experiences for the spiritual development of parish
children. All school age
children are invited and strongly encouraged to participate. The starting point for our children on their faith journey to God is always prayer: for the children, for the community of which the children are a part and for the world into which our children are born and will grow. Remember that liturgy is not about prayer, it is prayer. Through our leadership of the ritual and creative elements of the liturgy, children will come to worship God in community. Our role is not to be entertaining or cute, but engaging. As Children’s Liturgy Committee Members, our responsibility is to involve our children in the worship of God through meaningful dialogue, gesture, action, stillness, silence, and visual and tactile experiences. Let us continue to pray that with God’s gift of grace and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can continue to plan for and carry out His mission of providing meaningful liturgical experiences this year for our young parish family members. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: For Children: Each month one grade or class (Grades 2 – 6) helps to plan, coordinate and participate in the Mass. Volunteers for Children’s Liturgies include Child Greeters, Lectors, Gift Bearers, and Program Worship Designers. For Adults: We are looking for
special people to help plan, coordinate and assist with our monthly
Children's Liturgies. Your commitment would be attendance at a monthly
planning meeting (generally held at 1:30pm on the last Thursday of each
month at the Parish Center), and attendance and assistance at the
monthly Children's Liturgies. The committee also helps plan and
coordinate special events such as the Christmas Eve Pageant, Passion
Sunday Liturgy and May Crowning. VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS: Children’s Requirements: For Greeters, an outgoing and hospitable personality. For Lectors, a good public speaking voice and the ability to speak in front of large groups. Program Worship Designers should like to draw and be able create pictures from stories. Adult Requirements: An appreciation of the beauty and liturgical significance of the Mass. A basic foundation and knowledge of the liturgical components of the mass and the willingness to teach and share that gift with our parish children. |
