Children's Liturgy of the Word

What is it?
This is when the readings for Mass are suitably adapted to make it relevant to the lives and experiences of young people. They hear the same readings as the adults, but at a level that is appropriate for their age group.

When & Where?
First Sunday of every month at the 8:30am Mass. Dates for 2013-2014 are:

October 6, November 3, December 1,
January 5, February 2, March 3, April 6 & May 4

Sessions are held in the conference room of the undercroft (in the lower level of church next to Little People’s Church.)

>> Download the flyer for parents.
>> Download the flyer for volunteers.

Who is it for?
Children ages 5 and up. Middle and High School students needed as helpers.

How does it work?
Children are to sit with their families as usual. After the opening, hymn, prayer and Gloria, there will be student and adult volunteers that process down the center aisle with blue shirts holding the lectionary. Children are to file in behind these leaders. They will all stop in front of the lower sanctuary to receive a blessing from the priest. They are then lead down to the undercroft for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word. They will return to the main church after the Prayers of the faithful, before the collection.

Who will lead the Children’s Liturgy of the Word?
Meghan Cosgrove along with teens and adults from our Children’s Liturgy Team. We would love your help! To join us, please contact Meghan at 410-464-4012 or by email. Teens can earn service hours for their time spent with us! (Approx. 2 hours per session)
