Sacristy Ministries

Sacristy Committee
Assist in liturgical preparation and needs. Time commitment is variable, early morning to late evening, depending upon the liturgy requirements. Please contact Thaddeus Warszawski, Jr.

Flower Arrangements
If you have knowledge of floral design and the ability to order and arrange flowers, you can help arrange the flowers on the altars. 3 to 4 hours per week.

Altar Flower Memorials
Honor the memory or life of someone you love by placing flowers in our beautiful Cathedral. You may select the type of flowers and send or bring your payment to the Parish Center. Then come worship while you enjoy the beauty of the flowers and our Cathedral. The cost is $200. The Parish Center Receptionist will collect your donations in person from 9 AM to 9 PM. If you have any questions or to schedule a date, please contact Mary Miller, Associate Director of Parish Development, at 410-464-4004.

Altar Servers' Vestment Care
Help launder altar servers' surplices and dry-clean cassocks. Time commitment:
Launder 12 surplices every other month and dry-clean cassocks once a year.

Baptistery
Help welcome our precious babies into our Church by preparing the Baptistery for the Sacrament of Baptism! You will set out the baptismal candles, bibs, napkins, booklets, oils, and scoop, pour water into the font, and light the baptistery candles. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who attends 12:30 Mass. The commitment is 10-15 minutes one Sunday a month after the 12:30 Mass.

Baptismal Bibs
Do you enjoy sewing or embroidery? Create a beautiful gift to welcome babies into our Church! If you can sew baptismal bibs or embroider the Chi Rho on the bibs that are presented to each child that's baptized in the Cathedral, what a wonderful way to share your talent with the newest members of our family! Do it as your schedule permits. Our group makes more than 100 bibs each year.

Cathedral Tours
Our Cathedral provides approximately 20 one-hour guided tours throughout the year, with focus on the architectural and historical significance of the Cathedral. Docents volunteer 3 to 4 hours per year. It's helpful to have appreciation for and knowledge of architecture and Church art and history, but it's not necessary. New guides are trained and given information cards for each interest point of the Cathedral. To become a docent, please contact Amanda Stepp.

Chapel Care
Help change the tabernacle and lectern covers in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel for the various liturgical seasons, distribute missalettes for new Mass cycles, and collect and recycle outdated missalettes. This involves about 30 minutes the evening before a new Mass cycle begins (approximately every 10-12 weeks), five minutes the evenings before and after a solemnity or special feast, and one hour during Christmas and Holy Week.

Chrism Mass Oils
Pour into vials the sacred oils that were blessed at the Chrism Mass. You'll need to be in the undercroft by 6:30 p.m. on the Monday of Holy Week and stay until the Liturgy is finished. Steady hands are needed. Written instructions are provided. Volunteers should wear skid-free soled shoes and bring an apron to wear. Contact Gail Fennessey.

Dust the Church & Sacristy
Spend one peaceful hour a month caring for our beautiful Cathedral! Dusting the Church and Sacristy can be a contemplative hour. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your child, spouse or friend while becoming better acquainted with our beautiful Cathedral.

Needlepoint Committee
Help enhance the beauty of the Cathedral by f inishing an assigned needlepoint project.

Sacred Linen Care
Wash and iron small linens that are used daily for Mass. Approximately 50-100 pieces are picked up on Sundays and returned that same week. Your time commitment would be 5 hours per month.
