Where Are You Called to Serve?
Next Step: Find Your Place

Congratulations! All your efforts to take these tests and discern what God has gifted and called you to do will achieve results!

Using what you're now aware of, it's time to put your gifts and talents at the service of our Lord. Pray, pray, pray, and jump in! Remember, God is in charge of your life and He will lead the way! He won't let you make mistakes -- not for long!

Take the following steps to become part of the parish community of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in a ministry that's a good match for you.

1. Pray! Offer your gifts, talents, experiences and skills to Jesus, and give Him permission to lead you to the ministry where He wants you to serve.

2. Look over your report on the "Ideas for Ministries that Interest You" and -- in prayer -- circle or highlight the ones that stand out most for you.

3. After reading through this page, visit the list of Cathedral ministries. Click on the name of the ministry to see a brief description. Take note of which ministries interest you. Use the Contact Us link on each of those pages to initiate converstion with a person in charge of those ministries. If no one contacts you within a week, please contact the Volunteer Recruitment Committee or the Parish Office. Or, if you want to serve in a community organization (beyond the parish), download this Service Directory. You might also look through your local phone book: the blue pages in front as well as the yellow pages in back.

4. Meet with the ministry's contact person(s) and discuss how you think your gifts and areas of interest can best serve the needs of that particular organization, but listen openly to how the he/she would like to use your services. Don't resist his/her ideas; God often directs us into unexpected, new adventures this way!

5. Be persistent. The people in charge of ministries are well-intentioned in getting back to you and responding to your interest, but often they are so busy, they don't get around to it. You might even slip into the back of their minds. Don't interpret this negatively. This is not an insult against you, nor is it disinterest in you! Be persistent and make sure you call them back until you are satisfied you're serving where God wants you to serve. (If you're not sure whom to call, phone the Parish Office to obtain the name and number of the contact person for your chosen ministry: (410-464-4000)
