Sunday School of Religion
Parents

"Parents are the first to communicate the faith to their children and to educate them." (Apostolate on the Laity, #1)

Parents are the most influential educators of their children. Parents heavily influence how the child develops and who he/she becomes. They also are the ones who must create a family animated by love and respect for God and his people. Hence, the family is the first school experience in a child's life as he/she is taught daily social virtues.

It is an awesome task, in this complex society, for parents to transmit their Christian values to their children. It is the hope of the Sunday School of Religion to be of assistance and to enhance the parents' role as primary educators of their children.

It is strongly recommended that parents visit their children's classes on Sunday mornings, to meet the catechist and to be in contact with him/her from time to time.

Parents are encouraged to take as seriously this aspect of the child's education as all others. Please sign up to be class parents or class Mass helpers.

When the Sunday School of Religion is in session, you are welcome to visit us between 10:30 am. and 11:30 a.m. However, to visit more than a few classes each year, you will need to become STAND certified.

To begin training to become STAND certified, download these forms, complete them and deliver them to the Parish Center attention Cathleen Whalen.
