SSR About tinyCatechists needed! Here’s another way to draw closer to God while enjoying enormous personal satisfaction. Contribute one hour of your time on Sunday mornings to guide youngsters in Cathedral’s Sunday School. We prefer to have two classes per grade and two teachers in each class. Children play an integral part in liturgy and sacrament. We supply the teaching aids and the youngsters and you supply your faith, mature wisdom, and insights.

“It is so enjoyable to explore our Catholicism with the young people. I never realized that it would be so satisfying.” – one of our Catechists

We are currently using the Silver Burdett Ginn Religion program “Blest are We.” This program teaches:

  • “What Catholics Believe”
  • “How Catholics Worship”
  • “How Catholics Live”
  • “How Catholics Pray”

About Sunday School of Religion (SSR)

SSR Register-minWho: Kindergarten through 8th grade students

What: Our Sunday School of Religion program provides Religious Education for children who may desire an opportunity for Catholic religious instruction.

Where: in our Cathedral

WhenSundays after the 9:30 a.m. Mass (10:45 to 11:45 AM) from September to May (starting late September).

Why: Our sacramental preparation programs (First Communion, Confirmation, etc.) require a form of Catholic religious education. Many students receive Catholic religious education at their Catholic school, but for public or non-Catholic private school students, we offer Sunday School of Religion.

Our mission is to provide a friendly and open learning atmosphere for children, parents, and catechists. We…

  • Proclaim the story of the loving relationship between God and human kind.
  • Teach the important truths of the Catholic faith and relate these truths to daily life.
  • Develop an understanding of what it means to be a member of a faith community.
  • Develop an understanding of prayer and worship.
  • Motivate children to serve others as Christ has taught.

All staff and volunteers working with minors are required to be STAND trained.
