Adopt A Family

“Whatever you did for these least brothers of mine, you did it for me” (Mt 25: 40).

The Cathedral community has sponsored the Adopt-A-Family program for more than 30 years, to benefit our Sister Parish, Immaculate Conception and St. Cecilia’s, in West Baltimore City.  Our gifts and donations benefit families in need and bring Christmas joy and hope to this struggling community!

In 2020, we adopted 125 families (over 700 individuals).  Thousands of dollars and gift cards were also donated to provide assistance through Immaculate Conception and St. Cecilia’s community outreach.  This program presents a wonderful opportunity for all of us, especially our children, to practice the true meaning of Christmas.

Please sign up here to adopt a family. by December 10th.

You will receive a family profile with the names and ages of the family members.  Please note that many families have young adults and are often multi-generational.

We ask that you provide a NEW WRAPPED GIFT or gift card for each family member and a grocery gift card or non-perishable Food and a frozen turkey for Christmas dinner.  Most of the families are 5-8 people, but we have families from 2 to 11 people available. For the larger families, you may consider pairing with other volunteers to share a family or organize a group to adopt a family through your work or clubs.  The more participants we have the more people we can serve.  Please wrap gifts and place them and the food in large cardboard boxes for drop off.

You must deliver your items on Saturday, December 18, 2021
between 10 AM and 10:45 AM to the Cathedral parking lot.

If taking on an entire family is too much for you to handle, perhaps you could provide a financial donation or gift cards to Walmart or Safeway. You may provide an electronic contribution here. You may also donate via check by dropping one off at the parish center.

Thanks for making Christmas a day of joy and thanksgiving for our neighbors in need.  Truly, it is in giving that we receive!
