Conversations on Race

Our Parish goal is to be a leader in addressing racial equity issues, utilizing the message of ally-ship: a lifelong process of building relationships based on trust, consistency, and accountability with marginalized individuals and/or groups of people. It is important that work efforts must be recognized by those with whom we seek to ally. As a result of this goal, the parish council has decided to lead the parish to read, contemplate and discuss the issue.

Step 1: Form a common understanding, language: The reading recommended by the council can be found here.

Step 2: Engage in conversation about the issue: The Parish Council invites you into a conversation about Archbishop Lori’s article, “How Church teaching can help explain why Black Lives Matter". These conversations will happen virtually in a small group setting and will be facilitated by a staff member and a member of the parish council. In order to prepare for the conversation, please see the recommended reading list.

The dates for discussion are:

  • Tuesday, December 1, 9:00am – 10:30am
  • Wednesday, December 2, 12:30pm – 2:00pm
  • Thursday, December 3, 7:00pm – 8:30pm
