Fr. Bianco's Message for the Week: April 8, 2022

Dear Cathedral Parishioners,

Holy Week is my favorite time of the liturgical year. The Sacred Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday) are among the most beautiful liturgies the Church offers. If you have never attended the Triduum, I highly encourage you to do so. It is a wonderful way to dive deeply into the Paschal Mystery of our Lord and to prepare for the joy of Easter.

Please find the liturgical schedule online, in the bulletin, and on the Easter card that should have arrived by mail. I look forward to celebrating this most beautiful time in the Church year with you.

During the Easter season, the Cathedral has much to offer. Some things to look forward to are the following:

Starting April 21st

I have some wonderful news to report about the School of the Cathedral’s 8th graders. We learned last week that our 8th graders scored highest on the High School Placement Test of all of the 8th graders in archdiocesan schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. I am so proud of our 8th graders for this terrific achievement. I also want to congratulate Dr. Michael Wright, Principal, Rosanna Czarnecki, Vice Principal, and our faculty for preparing our Cathedral students so well and for giving them the tools and knowledge to be successful, future servant leaders of our society.

One of my favorite events of the year is the Cathedral School Ball. I have many good memories of the Ball from my time here as an associate. The 2022 Cathedral Ball will be held on Saturday, April 9th at Whitehall Mill. Our goal is to raise $130,000 to build an outdoor pavilion behind the school to enhance learning for current and future students. We want to provide an adequate space to learn, meet, eat, and socialize.

If you would like to support this worthy endeavor, please consider donating to the Ball or bidding on the auction items. You may download the Handbid App from the app store and search for "Back to the Ball." There, you will find the ways to participate: https://events.handbid.com/auctions/back-to-the-ball.

May God bless you.

Father Louis A. Bianco

Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries

So far we have raised up to $198,095 which is 79% of our goal.

This year instead of our parish only receiving a portion of funds raised for the Appeal for Catholic Ministries, Cathedral will keep 100% of all donations up to $250,000. Any funds raised over our goal will support the many important ministries of the appeal.

The funds will go towards several projects that will benefit the entire Cathedral campus. For more details please visit our website. Thank you for your generous support!
