Fr. Bianco's Message for the Week: February 25, 2022

Dear Cathedral Parishioners,

Wednesday, March 2nd begins our annual journey with Christ into the “desert” as we celebrate Ash Wednesday. You will soon receive by mail the Lenten postcard containing the schedule of liturgies, activities, and devotions at the Cathedral.

Of note, this year the time for Stations of the Cross has changed. In order to make it easier for more people to attend, Stations of the Cross will be prayed every Friday at 6:15 PM in the Lady Chapel, followed by a simple meal in the Undercroft.

Please click the link to sign up to provide food for the simple meal:

Please consider beginning your Lenten journey with Mass on Ash Wednesday. The schedule of Masses with ashes is as follows:
  • 7:00 AM
  • 8:15 AM (School Liturgy)
  • 5:30 PM (Archbishop William E. Lori)
This weekend we will complete the in-pew commitment cards for the Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries. The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen will keep all money up to our goal of $250,000 and anything over goal will go toward the ministries of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Thank you for your incredible generosity toward our parish and the ministries of the archdiocese.

Julie Grace Males, Director of Music Ministry, will speak at the end of Masses this weekend inviting you to participate in listening sessions for music ministry. The listening sessions will be after all Masses on two weekends: March 5-6 and March 12-13. Julie Grace will be the only person from music ministry at the listening sessions so that you may have open and honest discussions. Please consider participating in one listening session to help our music department understand what assists you in your prayer at Mass and to continue to provide beautiful and inspiring liturgical music.

Many of you might remember Father Jérémy Favrelière who was assigned to the Cathedral as a seminarian a couple years ago from St. Mary’s Seminary. Fr. Jérémy is visiting the United States and will celebrate the 9:30 AM Mass this weekend in thanksgiving for his time spent at Cathedral. Please pray for Fr. Jérémy as he prepares for his missionary work.

Finally, I ask that we all keep in our prayers the people of Ukraine that peace will be restored and the innocent and vulnerable of that country will be protected. Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us!

May God bless you.

Father Louis A. Bianco

This year instead of our parish only receiving a portion of funds raised for the Appeal for Catholic Ministries, Cathedral will keep 100% of all donations up to $250,000. Any funds raised over our goal will support the many important ministries of the appeal.

The funds will go towards several projects that will benefit the entire Cathedral campus. Please read the letter below for more details. Thank you for your generous support!

Mardi Gras

Join us for our Annual Mardi Gras. There are events for kids of different ages! *No walk-ins accepted. Registration required.
