Fr. Bianco's Message for the Week: May 5, 2022

Dear Cathedral Parishioners,

As this Sunday is Mother’s Day, I wish all mothers many blessings from God. May they receive the reverence and love they deserve; may their faith give them hope all the days of their lives; and may God bring them one day into the joy of His kingdom.

Most likely, many of you have noticed a family asking for money on the steps of the Cathedral or on Charles Street the past few Sunday mornings. The parents’ names are Anita and Simon and they have a few young children. In speaking with them, we feel that they are sincere and that their need is genuine. We are working with them to make sure they receive assistance from the organizations competent to provide it to them. If you feel moved to offer any assistance yourselves, please feel free to do so. As a parish family, let us keep these, our brothers and sisters in the Lord, in our daily prayers.

On Saturday, May 7th our second graders will receive their First Holy Communion. It will be a day of grace and joy for them and their families as they receive our Blessed Lord for the first time. I’m sure we all remember our First Holy Communion. Please pray for them that they will be as excited every time they receive our Lord in the Eucharist as they will be receiving Him for the first time.

I am sad to say that our Director of Evangelization and Faith Formation, Chris McCullough, will be leaving us on June 3rd. Chris has decided that it is time to move on to the next opportunity in his life. We are most grateful to Chris for the seven years he has served the Cathedral community as he brought Christ and the Gospels to life for us through his presentations, guest speakers, programs, social outreach initiatives, classes, and small groups. We wish him all the best and pray that God will bless him abundantly as he responds to God’s will for him.

On Saturday, May 14th, the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen will be hosting Pregnancy Center North’s (PCN) 5th annual Walk for Life. PCN, a pro-life pregnancy center located in Towson, MD, is celebrating 40 years of service to women and babies in the Baltimore area. With your help, PCN can continue to offer FREE life-affirming services, such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and material assistance to women facing unexpected pregnancies. Many other local churches will be joining CMOQ as we Walk for Life. Sign up to walk with our "Cathedral team" at www.PCNministry.org or on our website at www.cathedralofmary.org.

May God bless you.

Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries

So far we have raised $212,496 which is 85%  of our goal.

This year instead of our parish only receiving a portion of funds raised for the Appeal for Catholic Ministries, Cathedral will keep 100% of all donations up to $250,000. Any funds raised over our goal will support the many important ministries of the appeal.

The funds will go towards several projects that will benefit the entire Cathedral campus. For more details please visit our website. Thank you for your generous support!

St Bernadette Relic Tour: May 12-15

From April to August 2022, the relics of Saint Bernadette will tour the United States for the first time, bringing the grace of Lourdes to parishes across the country. The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen will host her relics on Thursday, May 12 - Sunday, May 15.

"The Covid Pandemic has cancelled our last two Pilgrimages [led by the Order of Malta]. Since we can’t travel again this year, we are bringing the Lourdes Pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen... Everyone is welcome to participate in venerating the Relics, participating in the Masses, Confession, Procession and Anointing of the Sick. This is an opportunity to obtain a Plenary Indulgence."
