Universal Prayers: May 3, 2020

Universal Prayer

4th Sunday of Easter

For the Church of God throughout the world,

that her leaders and her people

would listen faithfully to the call

of Christ the Good Shepherd…

we pray to the Lord.

R: Lord, hear our prayer.

For local, state, and national leaders

that they would be blessed with wisdom and discernment

in making decisions that affect the welfare of all…

we pray to the Lord.

R: Lord, hear our prayer.

For the sick and those who care for them,

especially those suffering from Covid-19,

that the healing power of God

who raised Jesus from the dead

would raise them up

and give them healing in body, mind and spirit…

we pray to the Lord.

R: Lord, hear our prayer.

For the troubled, the sorrowful, and those in need;

for refugees and prisoners and all who are in danger,

that they would be relieved and protected…

let us pray to the Lord.

R: Lord, hear our prayer.

For those who are suffering

the social and economic disruption

caused by the coronavirus pandemic:

for those who are unemployed,

for those who are isolated,

for those who are uncertain about the future…

let us pray to the Lord.

R: Lord, hear our prayer.

For all those far and near

watching this eucharistic celebration,

that God would hasten the day

when we can gather once again at his altar

to celebrate his mysteries…

we pray to the Lord.

R: Lord, hear our prayer.

For those who have died in the peace of Christ,

especially Joan K. Shettle and Ernie Burch,

and for all the departed,

that they might hear the voice of the Shepherd

calling them to himself…

we pray to the Lord.

R: Lord, hear our prayer.
